Nnobi Community Calls On Anambra State Governor To Sanction The Monarch Over Breach Of Peace

The Good People of Nnobi calls on Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Soludo to Sanction the Igwe Nnobi, Engr Nick Obi over his involvement in recent developments Threatening the Peace of Nnobi.
The recent developments in Nnobi Town have brought to light a disturbing trend of intimidation, meddlesomeness, and alleged compromise by Igwe Nick Muodum Obi, the monarch of Nnobi in allegedly facilitating and compromising the Chief Magistrate of Nnobi Magistrate Court to commit the President General of Nnobi community Barr. Dominic Okpala to be remanded in Custody over a minor contempt breach.
In the first instance the Nnobi Magistrate Court does not have the jurisdictions to hear the matter bothering on Town Union and its constitutional matters especially one in which the state government gave an Approval through a letter from the Office of the Commissioner for Local Govt, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.
The Anambra State Government has the number one duty to ensure that the rule of law is upheld and the rights of its citizens especially public officers are protected.
The President General of Nnobi Town Union, Barrister Dominic Okpala, was remanded in Onitsha Prison by His Honour Kenneth Nwokoye the Chief Magistrate of Nnobi Magistrate Court on April 8, 2025. He was granted bail through a counter application at the Ogidi High Court on the 10th April, making it 3 days in the correctional facility.
This decision has sparked widespread concern amongst the Nnobi community, judiciary, the Nigeria Bar Association, the state and the nation at large.
However, investigations as well as reports from the Nnobi Community, have revealed a pattern of behavior by Igwe Nick Muodum Obi that has been detrimental to the well-being of Nnobi town union leadership.
Igwe Nick Muodum Obi has been accused of using the Awuda Quarter of Nnobi to torpedo the progressive initiatives of Ebenesi and Ngo quarters by constantly using fraudulent judiciary processes, leading to series of breakdown in unity and cooperation within the community.

The Igwe has allegedly overstepped his traditional role by meddling in the administrative affairs of Nnobi Town Union (Nnobi Welfare Organization) creating tension and conflicts with the President General, Quarter Chairmen, Village Chair persons and other community leaders.
The Igwe had earlier verbally and literally handed loads of insults on the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs referring to the Commissioner as grossly incompetent in a letter to the Commissioner and before his Igwe in Council meeting for giving out guidance and instructions on the best ways to restore peace to Nnobi Town.
This unnecessary meddlesomeness has made the elderly Monarch to lose popularity in his community where the majority of the towns folks sees him as the master minder of all the court processes that have been instituted against the town union leadership disturbing them from providing administrative services to Nnobi people.
There are allegations of Igwe Nick Muodum Obi using his influence to manipulate the judicial process, including the filing of multiple court cases against the President General and other community members in the Magistrate Court Nnobi as well as Ogidi High Court at the same time through his proxies of Nnaemeka Okwelume (Chairman Awuda) and a community-based lawyer Barrister Martin Okeke; a clear abuse of court processes.
In light of these findings, the good people of Nnobi urges the Anambra State Government to take immediate action to address these issues and protect the rights of the Nnobi community from the manipulations of a tyrant monarch.
The good people of Nnobi demand A comprehensive investigation into the allegations of compromise and abuse of judicial process by Igwe Nick Muodum Obi and other parties involved and if proven let appropriate sanctions be meted against Igwe Nnobi in line with the Anambra Traditional Rulers Law as amended.
The people of Nnobi through its stakeholders are calling on The Anambra State Government to provide support and protection to the Nnobi Town Union leadership to ensure that they are able to carry out their duties without fear of intimidation or interference.
