Gaa nke ọma is a reaffirmation of the Ìgbò believe in Reincarnation and Obi Ndị Ịchie
Why do you think our ancestors said “Gaa nke ọma” to the dead, instead of “Zụọ ike nke ọma”?
That is because they understood that your CHI is on a journey. And that this journey might lead to your ‘Reincarnation’ or to your final destination in Obi ndị Ịchie.
Till today Ndị Ìgbò in various parts use “Gaa nke ọma” when bidding the dead farewell. But the contradiction is when the Christian faithfuls use “Gaa nke ọma” and at the same time say Rest In Peace.
“Gaa nke ọma” is more encompassing, because it shows that truly we humans don’t know for sure where the dead person is going – Reincarnate or continue his/work as one of Ndi ịchịe.
For you can’t say rest in peace when you don’t know what Karma has in stock for the CHI of the dead.
Nwa afọ, What do you of this?
Let’s reason together.
