Meet Film Director Benneth Nwankwo, Best Known For TV Series “Breakout” Who Is Using Local Talents To Tell Our Stories
Benneth Nwankwo is a Nigerian film director, Cinematographer, and Producer. He is best known for his films, Abuse Of Rights (2021), My Story (2020), Dream and Hope (2020), I Killed Chief Adeleke (2021), Like Filtered Water (2021), Dejumbled (2022), Breakout (2022) and Flawed Desire (2022).
He is the founder of BN MEDIA – a fully integrated, broad-based mass media and entertainment company specializing in the creation, production, distribution, licensing, and marketing of all forms of entertainment and their related businesses.
Benneth came into the public eye in 2015 with his talk show, Straight Talk With Benneth. Previously, published in BN Magazine as featured interview articles, Straight Talk With Benneth sheds light on established and new figures in the worlds of literature, fashion, entertainment, popular culture, and sometimes politics.
For more than 6 years, he interviewed a number of prominent figures such as Bob Manuel Udokwu (Nollywood Actor), Browny Ifeanyi Igboegwu (Nollywood Actor), Jnr Pope Odonwodo (Nollywood Actor), Obi Dike (Veteran Nollywood Actor), JR Fortin (American actor), Omotunde “Lolo 1” Adebowale (Nigerian actress), A.H. Mohammed ( Author The last days at Forcados High School), Olumide Oworu (Nigerian Actor), Okey Ndibe (Nigerian Author), Professor Remi Sonaiya (Nigeria 2015 Kowa Party Presidential candidate), Joseph McGeee (American film director), Zoe Chinaka ( OAP /Singer), Yinka Davies (Nigerian Actress), Fola “4lah” Folayan (Award winning broadcaster), Kukogho Iruesiri-Samson (Nigerian poet), Dr Damages (Satirist and Columnist), Ikhide ikheloa (Nigerian writer), Blossom Martins (multi Award winning Nigerian TV/ Radio Presenter), Kpana Nnadia Gaygay (Liberian writer), Ire d stage Devi (Nigerian Actress) and many others.
In 2020, he hosted what is now known as the first indigenous photo l exhibition in Anambra state, and tagged Akaraka: Anambra Through A Lens.
As a filmmaker, Benneth has made his mark and has continued to rise in the world’s second most growing entertainment industry – Nollywood. His films have been accepted into local and international festivals such as Lift-Off Global Network Festival and most recently, his short film, I Killed Chief Adeleke made the shortlist for the 2022 Startimes African Movie Academy Awards short film festival.
